Mykonos Beaches

  • Psarou Beach Near the settlement of Ornos, 150 meter expanse of white sand with calamus behind them (tall reeds often mistaken for bamtoo). There’s a diving club, water-skiing and wind-surfing rental. Reservations are required for half of the umbrellas and beach chairs in high season (which gives you an idea of just how touristic it is).
  • Platys Gialos Beach 4 km south of the capital, this beach is one of the first resorts to be established on Mykonos, with all that that implies. Lovely sand and water explain why.
  • Paranga Beach East of Platis Yialos , is actually two beaches separated by a small peninsula or headland. The quieter of the two is to the south, and has the wonderful Nikolas Taverna and rooms (22890 23 566). The louder beach has Mykonos Camping.
  • Paradise Beach 5km south of Mykonos Town, Paradise Beach has a nice crescent of golden sand, but gets very crowded, with lots of noise from the bars that belong to the campsite there, open 24 hours a day. Nude bathing is fairly common here.
  • Super Paradise Beach The official name of this beach is Plindrhi. It is reachable by foot or by kaiki (caique). There are two bars and a taverna, with loud music issuing from the bars. The beach is divided between a predominantly gay area, and a more mixed one. Nudity common.
